Although the boys basketball season just started they are making waves this season, bringing an electrifying performance to the court. With an impressive overall record of 13-4, the Wizards have secured the top spot in their division, showcasing their determination and skill.
Coach Jonathan Rakiecki (staff) praises the team’s relentless work ethic and strong team chemistry.
“I’m pretty happy with where we’re at and so are the boys,” Rakiecki said. “Our scheduling has been really hard because we are a 5A school, but in our 23-game season we would have only played four games with 5A teams. The rest have been 6A teams.”
Although the season has just started the future is looking bright for the Wizards.
Key players like shooting guard Madden Smiley (11) and point guard Tadese Keyworth (12) have been crucial in the team’s success. Smiley’s leadership and scoring ability, combined with Keyworth’s defensive skills, have created a strong presence on the court.
The Wizards’ most recent victory came with an intense game agianst the Loveland Red Wolves with a 61-44 win on Jan. 28. The intense match showed the team’s determination, showing they are a team to watch out for when the playoffs come around. Kylie Becker (11), a student who has attended some of the basketball games this season, said, “The basketball team looks really good this year. The game I saw, they won so I think they could definitely be a contender this year.”
As the season progresses, the Wizards are focused on maintaining their momentum and continuing to bring their magic to every game. With the support of Windsor community and the determination from the players, the team is projected for an unforgettable season.
The team had an amazing season last year, getting second in the state. The Wizards are ready for the new season, where they not only hope to make it to the playoffs again but also become state champions for the first time since 1924.
Rakiecki said, “We are working really hard every day to hopefully be peaking at the end of the season and hopefully win that state championship.”
