In an exciting homecoming game, the Windsor High School team delivered an impressive performance, crushing Northridge in a 45-6 victory. The game held under the lights of Windsor’s home field saw the home team dominate from the first whistle to the final buzzer.
Windsor’s offense was unstoppable with quarterback Kyle Phelps (12) throwing and handing off multiple touchdown passes. Running back Tripp Thomas (12) scored one of the first major touchdowns for the Wizards and Teegan Cole (12) scored two major touchdowns to give Windsor an extended lead. The defensive side was equally impressive, shutting down Northridge’s offense by only allowing one touchdown the whole game.
Math teacher and football coach Garrett Betty (staff) praised the team’s resilience and hard work: “I thought it was a good battle in all four quarters, but we treat every week with a record of 0-0 so that we can move forward and get to the end goal of finals in December.”
Although the victory brought injuries to some of the team captains, this victory boosted the team’s spirit as a whole and strengthened their position in the league standings.
The crowd’s spirits were high, with students, alumni and community members coming together to celebrate not only the game but also the homecoming festivities that were held during the game. The poms team and marching band offered an impressive halftime performance. After the performance, homecoming court winners were announced.
Overall this game seemed to be a real success for both the football players and the student section. With the spirit gear theme, many students were dressed in their wizard gear and some even brought speakers for the crowd to listen to and speak into. Kylie Becker (11) said, “The game was really cold, but everybody was in such high spirits and it was a really fun football game to go to in general.”
