From soccer to Student Council and Key Club, Lexi Smith (12) is involved in many activities and works hard to make her mark before she graduates in the spring.
After graduating from high school, Smith plans to attend a four-year college. She wants to major in either business or nursing, but as of right now, she is undecided.
“Lexi is a very positive person and she is always there for support. She is very comforting and thoughtful. She never fails to make you smile,” teammate Ambry Plate (10) said.
During Plate’s first soccer game at WHS, she had made a mistake, causing the opposing team to take control of the ball. Plate said that during the game, Smith made sure to let Plate know mistakes happen. This later turned into Plate’s favorite memory of Smith.
Smith has played soccer for a total of 12 years and has played for WHS for three. She plans on playing this spring as well, which will be her last season of high school soccer. She also participates in Student Council and Key Club. Smith loves being involved in WHS sports and extracurricular activities because of the support she receives.
“No matter how Lexi is feeling she is always willing to give 100%, no matter what is going on in her life. She is a really funny person and always makes everyone’s day so bright,” teammate Airyana Zabka (12) said.
Soccer isn’t the only sport Smith has taken part in while at WHS. She also played volleyball, ran in cross country and took a shot at basketball her freshman and sophomore years.
The Character Counts attributes — trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, citizenship — are aspects students should try to embody every day, both in and out of the classroom. Smith said she values trustworthiness the most because “it is the most important quality in a person and to be able to trust someone is very valuable.”
Smith has academically lettered her past three years of high school. She takes pride in performance and her grades. Her favorite out-of-school activities are working out and spending time with her friends and family.
After graduation, Smith wants her legacy to be that people saw her as kind. “I try to be kind to everyone here and strive to make people’s days better,” Smith shared.
